Instead of winding down, things are heating up this August with even larger celebrations and activities happening throughout the Capital City.

Are you visiting Ottawa next month? Be sure to mark your calendars for these three upcoming events!

Casino du Lac-Leamy Sound of Light

For five nights in August, the Ottawa/Gatineau sky is lit up with a spectacular light show from international firework designers. Judged by an expert jury and festival attendees, firework technicians from Chile, Italy, Greece, and France compete for the Grand Zeus award. It's a sight to see!

Lookout spots are located at the Canadian Museum of History for only $10 for a General Admission ticket, where ticket-holders can pull up a chair and settle in the GA area. For an even grander experience, check out the dinner-and-a-show packages, where patrons can enjoy a three-course meal from top restaurants serving cuisine from country conducting the evening's light show. Reserve your spot today!

Capital Pride 2019

From August 18-25, the capital city will experience bouts of pride with several fantastic Pride events taking place throughout the city. Last year the primarily volunteer-run organization reported a record-breaking year for increased attendance and a general expansion of the festival. This year sees even more events for more days and on a grander scale!

Those looking to celebrate can attend a Pride Parade, Pride Pageant with queen Brook Lynn Heights, the TD Block Party, Pride Prom, Street Festival, and much more. See the full schedule for this year's Capital Pride events.

The Capital Fair

The annual Capital Fair returns from August 16-25th with expanded ten-day programming and free gate admission. The fair, formerly known as the Gloucester Fair back in 1984, continues to be one of the most popular events of the summer. Family and friends can find all kinds of entertainment, from a monster truck show, a cowboy show, to an arm-wrestling competition, and petting zoo, it's fun for the entire crowd. And like any fair, you'll find rides, carnival food, and a slew of games. Mark your calendar and don't miss this signature Capital event!

After a full day of activities and programming, rest your head on a comfortable bed at the Best Western Ottawa City Centre. Centrally-located, this hotel offers clean rooms and quality amenities all at an affordable price. Enjoy a luxurious experience without breaking the bank, book your stay today!
