Celebrate Canada Day in Ottawa this July
It’s almost that time of year again! If you haven’t already had the chance to experience Canada Day in Ottawa, don’t miss your next opportunity. This July 1st, celebrate our home and native land in our nation’s very own capitol city. The city becomes more patriotic and lively than ever, and we want to celebrate our Canadian pride with you this year! Check out just a few of the many things there are to do in Ottawa this July 1st for Canada Day:

Visit a museum for free!

Most museums in Ottawa are not only open for the national holiday, but also offer free admission! Immerse yourself in Canada’s rich history and culture by checking out the National Gallery of Canada, the Canadian Museum of History, and the Canadian War Museum. If you’re celebrating Canada Day with kids, head to the Canadian Museum of Nature or the Space Museum for some free family fun.

Explore the Kanata area of West Ottawa

The western Ottawa suburb of Kanata boasts one of the largest annual Canada Day events in the region! This event is great whether you’re partying with friends or spending quality time with family. There are plenty of live music performances where you can rock out as well as a family fun zone that will be great for little ones getting into the spirit (what’s Canada Day without a little face painting?). And of course, there will be a beautiful fireworks display at dusk to cap off the night. Stay tuned for more details on programming and performers as July 1st approaches.

See the iconic Canada Day fireworks show

Ottawa’s major national sites, such as Parliament Hill, Major’s Hill Park, and the Canadian Museum of History, all have lots of free public programming especially for Canada Day. Be sure to pace yourself through the day of festivities so you can make it to the iconic fireworks display at dusk. This “pyromusical” fireworks show starts at approximately 10 pm and you can catch a great view from Parliament Hill, Victoria Island, Major’s Hill Park, and the lawn of the Canadian Museum of History (pretty much anywhere with a good view of the Ottawa River)!
Located in the beating heart of Ottawa, Best Western Plus Ottawa City Centre is excited to welcome our guests for the 2019 Canada Day celebrations this July. We’ll take care of everything you need, including free wifi and parking and an onsite restaurant, so you can focus on making the most of Canada’s birthday. Can’t wait to celebrate with you this summer!
