Ottawa is offering an exciting array of activities this winter. Check them out below for a blast from the past experience:

Ottawa is gifted with the lush greenery of Gatineau Park, which is a green oasis in the heart of the city. This January 10, join a skilled nature interpreter for a tour of the park under the stars! Learn how plants and animals survive the cold of the winter through a 3 km snowshoe hike that will end with rosy cheeks and hot cocoas back at the Sugarbush shelter. Stare up at the same stars that people have admired for centuries right here in Upper Canada! This winter's journey is recommended for everyone 8 years and up!

If you grew up in Canada in the 1990s, you probably owned at least one Big Shiny Tunes compilation CD. Produced by Toronto-based music television channel MuchMusic, every year saw a release of some of the best rock and roll around, combining good old-fashioned Canadian Content with the best of international alternative rock. Everyone had a favourite among the over-a-dozen annual releases of these compilations, and that's how a great many people were introduced to their favourite bands like Our Lady Peace, The Tea Party, I Mother Earth and more.

If you were a 90s kid or just wish you were, then you absolutely need to visit the House of Targ on January 10. Here you will see local favourite cover band Nevermind The Damage playing over three hours of songs from this storied compilation series, all while you savour the gourmet pierogis and play vintage arcade games. And that’s not all – the event will be hosted by none other than Rick Campanelli, AKA “Rick The Temp” from MuchMusic fame! Relive the glory days of your youth, or of the childhood, you wish you had, at the House of Targ on Saturday, January 10 at 10 pm - doors open at 9 pm.
